These free printable number flashcards 0–10 are one of the most-used resources in any preschool or kindergarten classroom.

The set covers numbers 0 through 10 across four versions:

  1. number cards with the numeral and word
  2. numeral-only cards
  3. number cards with picture representations
  4. tracing cards for number writing practice.

Download one version or all four.

These pair perfectly with alphabet flashcards and color flashcards for a complete early learning center. For larger number sets, see number flashcards 0–20 and number flashcards 0–100. The printable calendar numbers are also popular for pocket chart calendar work.

Numbers 1-10 Activities and Ideas for Kids

These cards work across a wide range of early number activities:

  • Number of the day: pull one numeral card each morning during circle time — count to that number together, find that many objects in the room, hold up that many fingers. A two-minute daily routine that builds number recognition, counting, and one-to-one correspondence all at once
  • Numeral-quantity match: print the numeral-only and picture card sets, shuffle them, and have students match each numeral to its quantity card. Good for math centers, partner work, and assessing whether students are matching by recognition or by counting
  • Number ordering: give a student all 11 cards and have them arrange them in order from 0 to 10 — then mix it up and try from greatest to least. Builds number sequence and comparison skills
  • Subitizing practice: flash a quantity card briefly (2–3 seconds) and ask students how many — without counting. This builds number sense faster than counting-by-ones and is one of the most powerful early math skills to develop
  • Before and after: show any card and ask “what number comes just before this?” and “what number comes just after?” A quick, high-value routine for building number sequence fluency
  • Ten-frame connection: show a numeral card and draw a ten-frame on the board — have students tell you how many dots to fill in. Connects the abstract numeral to a visual quantity model
  • Math story problems: use a number card as the answer and ask students to make up a story problem that ends with that number. E.g., card shows 4 — tell me a story where the answer is 4. Connects numerals to real-world quantity thinking
  • Tracing station: laminate the tracing set and set up a math writing center with dry-erase markers. Pair with printable calendar numbers for a full calendar math routine

Print and Sizing Options

  • Full page (1 per page): best for bulletin boards, classroom displays, and circle time anchor charts students can see from across the room
  • Half page (2 per page): ideal for homeschool binders, learning centers, and early learners who need larger cards for handling and reading
  • Quarter page (4 per page): great for individual student sets, hands-on activities, and paper-saving when you need multiple copies

Who These Are For

  • Preschool and kindergarten students learning to recognize numerals 0–10 and connect them to quantities — the foundational number sense skills that all future math builds on
  • Parents of toddlers and early learners doing at-home math before formal schooling begins — these cards are easy to use without any teaching background
  • In the classroom: Keep a set at your math circle area for quick number drills before transitions, and put laminated sets at a math center for independent practice. The numeral-and-quantity pairing makes these ideal for matching games and small group instruction. Calendar math is another natural fit — pull the card for today’s date and use it to launch a two-minute number activity with the class.
  • In homeschool: Use these as part of your daily math routine — five minutes of flashcard practice before your main lesson takes almost no prep and builds consistent number recall. Combine with play money or counting manipulatives for hands-on grouping, counting, and simple addition activities.
