What’s on This Attendance Sheet Printable

  • 30 student rows — space for a full class list
  • 25 day columns — covers a standard school month
  • Tally row at the bottom for totaling monthly attendance
  • Space at the top to write the month and year
  • Undated — no month or year pre-printed on the sheet
  • US Letter size, 8.5 x 11 inches, landscape orientation

The undated format is the most-requested feature on this printable. It means you never run out of the ‘right’ month. Grab another copy from the printer whenever you need it — the sheet works for September as well as it works for May.

How to Use This Printable Attendance Sheet

  1. Print one copy per month per class. Write the month and year in the header.
  2. List your students down the left column at the start of the school year — or print fresh copies each month if your class changes.
  3. Mark each day with your preferred code: P for present, A for absent, T for tardy, or E for excused.
  4. Fill in the tally row at the end of each month to get your totals.
  5. Keep completed sheets in a folder or attach them to your grade book for the semester record.

A lot of teachers laminate a blank copy and use a dry-erase marker to write in the student names. Then they print fresh copies each month for the daily marking columns. It saves time at the start of every month and keeps the name column legible all year.

If you’re also tracking the school planning calendar alongside attendance, the spring calendar printable, fall calendar, and summer calendar are all free downloads in the same collection.

Who This Attendance Sheet Is Good For

  • K-12 classroom teachers who need a simple paper record alongside their digital grade book
  • Homeschool parents required to document attendance for state compliance reporting
  • Tutors and learning center instructors tracking session attendance per student
  • After-school program coordinators managing multiple student groups
  • Sunday school teachers, youth group leaders, and extracurricular instructors who need a simple monthly headcount

The 30-student capacity covers most elementary, middle, and high school class sizes. If your group is smaller, just leave the extra rows blank. The tally still works the same way.

Why Teachers Use a Printable Attendance Sheet

Digital grade books are great right up until the internet goes out or the system updates in the middle of class. A paper attendance sheet is a backup you can always rely on. It also gives you something physical to hand to an administrator or drop in a student file without any extra steps.

For homeschool families, a printed attendance record covering the full school year can matter for state documentation requirements. An undated printable like this one makes it easy to produce a complete paper trail quickly.

Yes. There’s no month or year pre-printed on the sheet. Write in whatever month you’re tracking at the top. That way you can print and reuse the same PDF every single month without any waste.

Is this attendance sheet free?
