Is it just me, or does Thanksgiving week somehow require more entertainment than summer break?
This Thanksgiving scavenger hunt printable is here to save you. Six pages, zero prep beyond hitting print, and it’ll buy you a solid chunk of quiet while dinner’s in the oven.
I made this one for the exact chaos I know and love: kids bouncing off the walls before the turkey’s even out of the fridge. Grab it, print it, hand it over. 🦃

What’s Included
This pack has six pages, and every one pulls double duty:
- Two teacher resource cards with labeled autumn icons (turkey, pumpkin, acorn, cornucopia, and more)
- Two single-page portrait checklists with checkboxes for a classic scavenger hunt
- One A–Z worksheet for older kids who are ready for a challenge
- Warm autumn illustrations throughout, so it actually looks like fall and not a photocopier from 1997
The teacher resource cards double as vocabulary flashcards if you want to sneak in a little learning before the hunt starts. (No one has to know.)

Features and Benefits
I loooooove that this doubles as a classroom activity too. Pair it with a thanksgiving word search or thanksgiving crossword for a full afternoon of early-finisher activities.
The checklists are the star here. Simple checkboxes next to fall icons like pie, gravy, cornstalk, and sunflower — kids just find the item (or a picture of it) and check it off. No reading a paragraph of instructions first, which matters when you’ve got a six-year-old with the attention span of a goldfish.
The A–Z worksheet is a nice step up for early elementary kids who’ve outgrown picture-matching. It’s a straightforward alphabet fill-in, and it works great as a quiet-time activity if the checklist hunt already wore everyone out.
These scavenger hunt checklists work indoors or outdoors, which honestly makes fall in Pittsburgh a coin flip most years. Backyard hunt one year, living room hunt the next. Either way, the single-page portrait checklists print clean and go fast.
Who It’s For
- Teachers running a Thanksgiving-week classroom center
- Homeschool parents looking for low-lift gratitude activities for kids
- Parents hosting a Thanksgiving party who need 20 minutes of built-in entertainment
- Early elementary kids who like checklists and checkboxes (so, most of them)
- Anyone who needs a print-and-play activity that doesn’t require batteries
How to Use It
- Print the pages you want — you don’t have to use all six at once
- Hand out the checklist pages for a classic find-and-check hunt around the house, yard, or classroom
- Use the teacher resource cards as flashcards first if you want a quick vocab warm-up
- Save the A–Z worksheet for a quieter moment, like right after dessert when everyone’s slowed down
Teacher Tip: Laminate the teacher resource cards and reuse them as a matching game all season. They hold up better than you’d think against sticky Thanksgiving hands.
This is one of my favorite thanksgiving crafts for kids alternatives when you want something low-mess. No glue, no glitter, no finding pumpkin seeds in the couch cushions in March.
