Build your own classroom calendar with these free printable classroom calendar kits. Every kit includes calendar numbers, days of the week, months of the year, weather cards, and special event labels, all matching, so your calendar area actually looks pulled together instead of like five different printables taped next to each other. (Ask me how I know.)
Choose from 4 color themes (rainbow, pastel, muted, black and white) or 11 seasonal and holiday themes below. If you just need one piece on its own, like a fresh set of calendar numbers, days of the week, or months of the year, those are free standalone downloads too. And if you’re building out a full math center, these calendar numbers pair nicely with a set of number flashcards for extra counting practice.

- Days of the week: 14 cards, including yesterday/today/tomorrow labels for your daily routine.
- Months of the year: 24 month cards in two sizes, for a monthly header or a pocket chart.
- Weather cards: 9 cards for tracking daily weather during circle time.

3 Ways to Hang Your Calendar
However you’re setting up your calendar area, these printables work. Here’s a quick comparison of the three most common setups, then step-by-step instructions for each below.
| Feature | DIY Wall Calendar | Pocket Chart Calendar | Flip Calendar |
| Cost | Free | $10 | $15 |
| Best For | Large classroom displays and bulletin boards | Morning meetings and calendar jobs | Small spaces and centers |
| Supplies Needed | Painter’s tape or sticky tack | Pocket chart | Magnetic dowel and binder rings |
Option 1: DIY Wall Calendar
Mount your printable calendar on a whiteboard or wall using tape, sticky tack, or Velcro dots. This is the most flexible option if you like to change your layout with the seasons.
- Choose your theme and print the full calendar kit.
- Trim and laminate your cards for long-term use.
- Use Velcro dots, tape, or magnets to attach each piece to your board.
- Arrange days of the week across the top, calendar numbers in a grid below, and your month card above.
- Store extra pieces, like special day cards or alternate months, in a labeled envelope.

Option 2: Pocket Chart Calendar
Use our calendar cards in a standard classroom pocket chart. This is the setup I use for morning meetings and calendar helper jobs, since kids can grab and place the cards themselves.
These inserts are sized to fit standard 3″ x 3″ calendar chart pockets. The number cards are 2.5″ x 2.5″, month cards are 10″ x 2.5″, and year cards are 6″ x 2.5″. Printing at 90% scale gets you 2.25″ squares if your pocket chart runs smaller.
- Choose your theme and print the full calendar kit.
- Cut each piece to size using a paper cutter or scissors.
- Laminate if you want to reuse the set year after year.
- Arrange days of the week across the top, calendar numbers in a 5-6 row grid, month card above, and weather or special day labels to the side.
Option 3: Flip Calendar with Binder Rings
Short on wall space, or want something a small group can flip through at a center? A flip calendar is a compact, interactive option where each category (day, date, month) flips individually on its own ring.
- Choose your theme and print the full calendar kit.
- Trim each card to a uniform size.
- Hole punch the top of each card.
- Group by category (days, numbers, months, weather, seasons, special days) and hang each group on its own binder ring or clothespin.
- Hang from a command strip above your whiteboard, a clothesline across a bulletin board, or a trifold board for portability.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these calendar kits really free?
Yes. Every theme on this page is a free download for classroom or personal use.
Can I mix pieces from different themes?
Yep. A lot of teachers keep a neutral base set (like the muted or black and white kit) up year-round, then swap in just the holiday number cards or month header for a quick seasonal refresh.
What size pocket chart do these fit?
These are sized for a standard 3″ x 3″ calendar pocket chart. If yours runs smaller, print at 90% scale to shrink the number cards down to about 2.25″ square.
Do I need a pocket chart to use these?
Not at all. See the 3 setup options above. Wall and flip calendar setups don’t require any special equipment beyond tape, Velcro, or binder rings.
Can I print these in black and white?
Yes. The Black and White Calendar Kit is designed for exactly that, but any theme will print fine in grayscale if you’re just out of colored ink.
Will you add more holiday themes?
This page will keep growing. If there’s a theme you don’t see yet, let me know in the comments.
