Halloween Scattergories FAQ

What is Halloween Scattergories?
It’s a category-based word game โ€” flip to a random letter, then fill in a Halloween-themed answer for each prompt (something spooky, a Halloween costume, a monster) before the timer runs out. This free printable comes with four different game boards so you can play multiple rounds without repeating categories.

How many game boards are in this printable?
Four. Each board has its own set of 12 categories, printed two boards per page across two pages, so a group of four can each work from a different board, or you can rotate boards round to round.

Can I play Halloween Scattergories online?
This version is a printable PDF built for pen-and-paper play at parties, classrooms, and game nights โ€” not a digital list generator. Print a board per player and you’re set for however many rounds you want to play.

What age is this good for?
Works well from about second grade through adults. Younger kids may want a partner for spelling, and the categories flex from simple (something orange) to more open-ended (magic or spell), so teens and adults have room to be clever too.

How do you score Halloween Scattergories?
Read your answers around the table after each round. Score a point for every answer nobody else wrote โ€” matching another player’s answer cancels both of you out for that category. Play a few rounds with different boards and the highest total wins.
