The download gives you 36 cards with 108 spooky drawing prompts, and every card shows the picture right next to the word — so the kids who can’t read yet can still take a turn drawing, which is the whole reason I made this version.

Halloween Pictionary Word List (All 108 Words)

Here are all 108 drawing prompts in the printable, grouped by how hard they are to sketch so you can match the cards to your crowd:

Easy (great for preschool and kindergarten): pumpkin, bat, ghost, black cat, moon, candy, candy corn, mask, star, apple, leaf, bone, eye, hand, foot, nose, smile, tree, bell, button, glove, boots, shoe, sock, owl, hat, lollipop, stick, light bulb, candle, spider web.

Medium: witch, spider, skeleton, vampire, werewolf, mummy, monster, cauldron, cape, doll, skull, fangs, wand, cat paw, footprint, gummy worm, spider ring, face paint, witch hat, treat bag, eyeballs, eyepatch, candy bar, flashlight, sticky hand, doorbell, paintbrush, torch, mice, grin, dust, bubbles, scream, fog, cemetery, graveyard, coffin, potion.

Harder (fun for older kids and adults): haunted house, Frankenstein, poltergeist, shadow, trick-or-treat, magic spell, pumpkin carving, mad scientist, jack-o-lantern, scary story, vampire teeth, blood moon, dead tree, cauldron bubbles, green slime, broken mirror, haunted forest, trick-or-treater, witches’ brew, spooky hallway, howling, witch’s broom, squeaky door, full moon, claws, creepy.

All of these come pre-printed on the four sheets — you don’t have to write out a single one. That’s the whole point of a Halloween Pictionary word list you can just print and cut.

Easy Halloween Pictionary Words for Little Kids

The picture-on-the-card design is the whole reason this version works for preschool. A four-year-old who can’t read “pumpkin” can still see the little pumpkin on the card and draw a circle with a stem. That’s the difference between a game they can play and a game they watch the big kids play.

Pull the easy cards, pair each young kid with a grown-up, and let them draw. The drawings will be unrecognizable and everyone will guess anyway. That’s the fun.

How to Play Halloween Pictionary (Rules and Scoring)

  • Print all four pages and cut out the 36 cards.
  • Stack them face down in a bowl or bag.
  • Split into teams.
  • One player draws a card and sketches it — no letters, no numbers, no talking — while their team guesses before the one-minute timer runs out.
  • A correct guess scores a point, then the next team goes.
  • Play to a set number of points, or just rotate until everyone has drawn twice.

House rule that keeps it moving: no erasing, only adding. It makes the bad drawings funnier and the game faster.

Pictionary vs Charades: Which Halloween Game for Which Group?

Our Halloween Pictionary and Halloween Charades sets use the same familiar words but suit different rooms. Pictionary keeps everyone seated with a pencil — the pick for a calmer classroom or a table of kids you need to settle. Charades gets them up and moving — the pick when they have energy to burn before the party.

Print both and choose on the day. Because the vocabulary matches, a class that played Pictionary on Monday already knows the words for charades on Friday.

Ideal For:

  • Teachers who need a last-minute classroom game
  • Parents planning a Halloween party at home
  • Group leaders running holiday programs
  • Homeschool families planning a themed learning day
  • Friends hosting Halloween get-togethers
