Beginning of the Year Teacher Checklist

If you want a beginning of the year teacher to do list, start with your daily plan and a short setup checklist. This keeps your routine simple and helps you remember the small tasks that add up.

  • Print 5–10 copies and use one page per day for the first two weeks.
  • Make a short list of routines to teach and add one per day.
  • Set up a simple “paper + planning” stack for your desk and your teacher binder.
  • Add recurring tasks to the same spot each day (attendance, copies, parent contact, follow-ups).
  • Use my birthday tracker for teachers so birthdays don’t get missed during the busy first month.
  • If you teach multiple preps, pair this page with my weekly 6 prep teacher lesson planner so planning and tasks stay together.

Teacher Binder Setup Ideas

If you keep a teacher binder, this page works well as your daily front sheet. It also fits in a teacher toolbox system if you want a grab-and-go routine for planning time.

  • Put this teacher to do list in the front pocket for quick daily use.
  • Use one section divider for “this week” and move completed pages behind it.
  • Add a notes section using college ruled note paper printable for quick lists and meeting notes.
  • If you want a smaller planner section, add my 3-subject teacher lesson plan template behind your weekly plan tab.
  • Create a “copies + supplies” page and use it as your running list for the week.
  • Keep an end of year checklist tab so you don’t scramble in the final weeks of school.
